About Shenandoah

Shenandoah Myrick is a Certified Residential Appraiser with Bellingham Appraisal Services. With more than 20 years of real estate experience, Shenandoah has earned several designations, including an Associates of Science Degree in Real Estate with an emphasis on Green Building.

Shenandoah grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and for a time lived in the California sequoias region, where she cultivated her love of nature. “With a little help from outside professionals and using minimal materials, we created a home we loved. We had a composting toilet, solar array, a huge garden, goats for milk, and only store-bought meats and grains. When I think about it, I could have gone either way; continued my southern California lifestyle or become who I am today – an advocate for protecting mother earth and our fellow community members.”

When she moved to Bellingham in 1996 Shenandoah knew that she had found the perfect place to call home; a place she’d long dreamt about. She immediately fell in love with views of Mt. Baker, the lush greenery, the nature, and the water (but admittedly misses California beaches!). Shenandoah and her husband Brian love walking and hiking with their dogs, and working in their large garden, which provides them with ample produce all-year round.

These days, Shenandoah is respected throughout her community as a experienced, knowledgeable real estate broker, with a focus on how the environment impacts our homes, health, and lifestyles. “A lot of health issues come from the health of our homes; indoor air quality which is a byproduct of chemicals, moisture and dust. A healthy home uses less toxic materials and is tightly sealed to reduce moisture intrusion and outdoor particulates. Working with clients to educate them on these issues; how they can mitigate them within their current home, and what to look for as they shop for a new home, gives me a lot of personal satisfaction.

Over the past 20 years, she has volunteered countless hours with organizations in support of affordable housing, food security, green building and our environmental impact, as well as mental health. This includes local organizations like:

  • Kulshan Community Land Trust as a Board of Director where she was the chair of the Homeowner & Fundraising Committee.
  • Habitat For Humanity where she was a founding member of the Women Build Leadership Team.
  • Sustainable Connections with the Toward Zero Waste Program performing weekly Food Recovery, and Whatcom Housing Alliance helping to plan and execute Housing Week as well as attending Policy Task Force Committee meetings.
  • Whatcom County BIA Built Green Committee where she served on the first Built Green Committee.
  • Animals as Natural Therapy where she served on the Board of Directors acting as chair of the events committee.

Today, she serves her profession on the Washington Realtor Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee, and beginning in 2023 will serve on the Washington Realtors Education Committee.
